The Oyster Bay P&C is an incorporated body of the school and community of which members may be parents or guardians of children attending the school or people living in the school's community, though it is generally only parents of pupils that are members. We are very welcoming of new members.
We get together once a month to:
- discuss issues pertaining to the school and the students
- learn about what is happening at school such as computer curriculum, new initiatives or new works
- listen to guest speakers
- lobby and raise funds for school improvements
- have a coffee and chat
Recent achievements for the P&C
- school hall
- a new computer room
- shade shelters in both sites
- a new toilet block at the K-2 site
- all funded by State and Federal Government with some help from the P&C funding
Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month during term time at 7:30pm in the library at the primary site.
The executive is made up of:
President Craig Wilson
Secretary Anna Hoffman
Treasurer Andrew Macquart
Vice President Brett Ashhurst
Vice President Lyndall Baum
The P&C has 3 formal subcommittees:
Art & Craft Festival - This festival is the main source of our substantial fundraising
Canteen - Organises the canteen and non-festival fund raising
Uniform - Organises uniforms for sale
And two individual positions outside the executive:
Safety Officer
Social Co-ordinator
The P&C also has representatives in the finance committee that decides on how the funds raised and school budgets are used. Outside normal school workings this includes funding for extra specialist teachers and materials to improve the learning and nurturing environment in which the children learn and grow.
We are very lucky that we have a very active participation from the parents and students in the school helping out and wouldn’t be able to run the festival and canteen without it. Please come along for a coffee and watch what happens, or if you wish, get involved in a more active role.
See you Wednesday night J
Contact for the P&C can be made through the school, who can guide you to the right person.
